Princess Cup

15 Feb

My Polish flatmate Dawid is extremely manly, besides one thing. He drinks out of this beautiful teacup. He refers to is as his “princess cup”. As a regular tea and coffee drinker, I fell in love with his cup and decided to find my own. One of the items Amsterdam (Delft in particular) is known for is a chinaware called ‘Delfware’. It is handmade in the city of Deflt outside of Amsterdam and is known for its beautiful blue colors hand painted on top of white china. I went into an antique store that sold authentic Royal Delftware and browsed some of the new pieces the shop owner had just received. For a teacup and saucer the price was anywhere from 140 to 200 Euros. He then showed me a vintage piece that only cost 35 Euros. It was even more stunning than the newer pieces because of its vintage character. I am so happy and cannot wait to use my princess cup!
